Boris Jerkunica, CEO / Co-Founder
Boris Jerkunica is a technology entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in the software industry with extensive experience building businesses. Prior to co-founding ZivVa (now called Vocalocity), Boris was the co-founder and CEO of NetZIP. Netzip, was one of the early pioneers of the download market and its download technology was used by Netscape, ZDNet, CNet, etc. At the time of its purchase by Real Networks, NetZIP was the #1 download product with 15 million users. The NetZIP purchase was the second largest Internet acquisition of 2000. Shortly after the acquisition, Boris was CTO of MusicNet, a joint venture between Real Networks, AOL, Sony, BMG to develop a music download platform service based on the Netzip technology. MusicNet is currently the technology platform behind AOL music, Yahoo music, Urge (MTV Networks) and a few others. Before NetZIP, Boris was the founder of Software Builders International which developed client/server enterprise software for companies such as IBM, Thomas Publishing, etc. He sold the company in 1997.
In addition to his duties at Vocalocity, Boris is Chairman and majority owner of the Atlanta Silverbacks and has a minority interest in the Carolina Railhawks in Cary, NC. Boris graduated from Emory University with a BS and a MS in Math/Computer Science and was an All-American in soccer and still holds the scoring and assist records.
Phil Hill, President / Co-Founder
Phil is an experienced entrepreneur in the Internet space and has over 10 years experience building and developing businesses, including start-ups and established operations. Prior to co-founding Netzip with Boris, Phil spent four years developing and implementing marketing plans for Coca Cola in London. When Netzip was sold to Real Networks in January 2,000 for $267 million the company had 15 million users and had established itself as the de-facto standard for downloading files and music on the Internet. After the sale he assumed the role of VP Marketing at MusicNet, a wholly owned subsidiary of Real Networks, where his team innovated some of the first legally deployed music subscription services which are now in use by Microsoft, AOL and Yahoo.
Jay Ramadorai, Executive VP and Chief Technology Officer
Jay is a technology leader with over 20 years of experience in the software industry, with extensive expertise in building Internet-based Enterprise technology companies, products and solutions. He brings a strong mix of product and services experience to Vocalocity, with a focus on Open systems, scalable service-oriented architectures, software-as-a-service, performance-driven designs and rapid development processes. Prior to joining Vocalocity, Jay was Senior VP & CTO at Passkey International, where he led the transformation of its startup technologies into the leading internet-based platform for the delivery of automated group reservations services to the Hospitality Conventions & Meetings markets, using J2EE-based architectures, a strong Web Services integration strategy, and a fine-tuned onshore-offshore development model that helped power the rapid growth of the company. Prior to Passkey, Jay was Executive VP & CTO at LastMinuteTravel.com, where he architected and built a scalable Internet-based platform to deliver last-minute travel inventory to consumers, using emerging technologies, such as Web Services-based direct connects that lowered distribution costs for travel suppliers. He also led the implementation and launch of AOL's Last Minute Travel channel on their multiple Internet properties. Prior to that, Jay worked at iXL, where he led the build and delivery of Internet solutions for such companies as WebMD, AutoZone, Delta Air Lines and BellSouth. Before that, at Software Builders International, Jay built a successful global e-procurement exchange for GE for use by its Fortune 100 customers, which in 1995-96 was among the earliest Internet-based B2B technologies. Jay has also built large, database-driven customer service management systems for several utilities and insurance companies. Jay received his degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.
David Politis, Executive VP and General Manager, Hosted Services
David Politis is the founding employee of ZivVa (now called Vocalocity) and was instrumental in transitioning the business from international voip calling to hosted PBX services. Amongst other things he has pioneered the company's lead acquisition programs and managed product development of the hosted applications at Vocalocity.
Prior to joining Vocalocity, Politis was the Director of Marketing for Symphony Vodka where he developed the business plan and sponsorship strategy for the new market launch of the Czech Vodka and was a project analyst for PRI Project Development LLC in Xi'an, China.
Politis is a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, with a major in economics. He has studied and traveled abroad extensively, to more than 35 countries. Politis was student at The Shaanxi Normal University in Xi'an, China and also studied in Rome. He participated in humanitarian efforts in Ecuador, the Dominican Republic and Dominica, and had also volunteered with the Children's Miracle Network.
In addition to his love of travel, Politis is a sports enthusiast and holds a second degree black belt in tae kwon do. Politis is a native of New York City.
